Vanessa’s life is science. Fact based, evidence led, no nonsense, no monsters

But when a photograph surfaces showing something in Loch Ness, she must embark on a very personal research project.

An extinct fish, a missing father and breath-taking live electronic sound collide in a new play with songs about how we connect to the past, and how our lives are shaped by the no-longer living things we carry with us.

Fossils comes to the New Diorama after an acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe and a transfer to New York at the Brits Off Broadway festival. 

This production is supported by the New Diorama Emerging Companies Fund and through public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.


Bucket Club are a multi award-winning associate company at Farnham Maltings. They aim to make work that is, above all, playful. They are interested in how stories are told and how theatrical form can be exploited. They like live music, bare spaces and making the most of what they’ve got. 

Their first show, Lorraine & Alan, toured nationally and won the Brighton Fringe Award for Excellence and a Musical Theatre Network Award for Innovation.

Other shows include The Beasts, a family show for festivals and Launch Party, a co-production with Farnham Maltings for village halls which toured last Autumn,
