All We Ever Wanted Was Everything

What if you tell me to be anything I want? What if the thing I want to be is the thing society cannot accept?

Award-winning theatre company Middle Child return for their third collaboration with writer Luke Barnes on an anarchic, theatrical epic for a nightclub about the shame of daring to dream and the fear of not fulfilling those dreams.

This work in progress reading is the first sharing of Middle Child’s City of Culture production and an opportunity to glimpse into the Middle Child creative process.

All We Ever Wanted Was Everthing is supported by Hull 2017 UK City of Culture, Hull City Council and Arts Council England and is being presented as part of New Diorama's Hull UK City of Culture 2017: Emerging Companies Showcase which is supported by New Diorama Theatre, Hull University, Hull Truck and Hull UK City of Culture 2017 (

★★★★★ "Ten Storey Love Song may be the greatest Fringe show I’ve ever encountered...any suspension of disbelief slips; not because it’s unreal, but because you can’t believe how bitingly good it is... a shot of pure theatrical adrenaline."
Broadway Baby

"In terms of raw potential, energy, performances and pretty much re-inventing the idea of musical theatre from the smouldering ashes of everything you thought you knew about musical theatre: full marks. I definitely want everyone I know to see this show."
Andrew Haydon on Weekend Rockstars
