Secret Life of Humans opens tonight at 59E59 New York
31 May 2018
Wishing all the love and luck from London to the NDT cast and crew in the Big Apple as they open our in-house production of SECRET LIFE OF HUMANS Off-Broadway tonight!
Following an award-winning run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2017, an entire sell-out season at New Diorama, and an incredible transfer to Greenwich Theatre - SECRET LIFE OF HUMANS opens tonight for our first ever in-house Off-Broadway transfer, at 59E59 Theaters.
SECRET LIFE OF HUMANS is an award-winning new play written by our Artistic Director David Byrne - inspired by Yuval Harari’s international best-seller ‘Sapiens: A Brief History of Humanity’ and the works of Dr Jacob 'Bruno' Bronowski.
Words from David Byrne:
"The play spans several different time periods: Ava and Jamie’s lasts a single night, Bruno’s story across one lifetime and the history of humanity across millions of years. Putting them together, we want them to resonate, to give a new perspective on where we’ve come from, where we are now and where we’re going. Throughout the play, there are two major debates that fight it out, what does it mean to be human? And where are we heading? Both arguments are strong and compelling; SECRET LIFE OF HUMANS finding great optimism in delving back at what shaped and formed us as a species."
We wish the whole cast and crew the best of luck as they open at 59E59 tonight to a sell-out first night audience (WOW!) and we hope that New York audiences love the show just as much as they have on home soil!
"A masterpiece...mesmerising to watch. Nothing less than a theatrical triumph."
"Ambitious, intelligent & moving ... unfolds with thriller-like precision with real visual flair"
