1 November 2016

New Diorama has been named the winner of the 2016 Peter Brook Empty Space Award in recognition of our body of work over the last year.

Nominated alongside Soho Theatre, Shoreditch Town Hall, Slung Low's Hub in Leeds and the Young Vic, New Diorama were named the winner of the 2016 Peter Brook Empty Space Award at a ceremony at the National Theatre Studio.

The Peter Brook Awards, co-sponsored by the National Theatre and V&A, are in their 27th year and present their main prize, the Empty Space Award, recognising pioneering concepts and innovations in the spirit of director Peter Brook: in particular achievements in smaller theatre spaces with little or no public funding.

New Diorama was awarded the prize for establishing a “vital creative hub for established and emerging theatre companies”.

Lyn Gardner, Guardian Theatre critic, who read a speech about New Diorama at the ceremony called New Diorama an “essential and unsung hero of the UK theatre ecology”.
