NDT Receive Regent's Place Community Fund
3 October 2016
New Diorama have been awarded one of the first ever grants from the Regent’s Place Community Fund to undertake new projects in West Euston.
The Regent's Place Community Fund, which focuses on initiatives that support social cohesion in the community, skills and access to employment, and healthy living, is currently in it's first year and is made up from donations from businesses across Regent's Place.
This £5000 grant will help us further increase community access to the theatre for local residents across the next year, including:
Matinee Performances For Older, Isolated West Euston Residents
Over the next season, following the successful pilot performances, New Diorama will offer five, free, day-time performances for up to 400 isolated people living in West Euston. The events will have tea and refreshments after the performances with a chance for the the audience to meet the cast.
Two Events At New Diorama With New Horizon Youth Centre
Each year, the demand grows from local people to come and use the theatre space to stage projects. Each year that demand grows substantially and New Diorama needs to find more resource to support the growing ambition of our local groups. In particular, New Horizon Youth Centre have been hosting events at New Diorama around themes that mean something to their young people. The first, attended by Natalie Bennett, Leader of the Green Party, was around Climate Change. The second was around homelessness and attracted speakers from Crisis and Shelter. This grant would allow us to host and support two more of these popular, sell-out, events next season.
Relaxed Performances Across Our Season
This grant is the final investment to allow New Diorama to, for the first time, host six special relaxed performances to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed performance environment, including people with an Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory and communication disorders, or a learning disability. New Diorama Theatre's multi-award winning community is supported by our Principal Supporter British Land, The Evening Standard, John Lyon's Charity and London Community Founkdaton.
